Technology and Data Strategy Consulting

Before you build or buy, we help you decide: our consultants analyse the challenge, recommend what fits your organisation and sector, and turn it into an architecture and a roadmap your teams can deliver.

A glass maze with one glowing path that runs from a green ball at the entrance to a blue ball at the exit.

What Does a Technology Consultant Do?

Technology consulting helps an organisation decide what to build, buy or change before the money is spent. A consultant assesses the systems and data you have, compares them with what your goals require, and sets out a target architecture and a roadmap for getting there.

Sustainable Software Solutions provides technology and digital transformation consulting from Cairo to government entities and enterprises in Egypt and the Gulf. Our advice is grounded in what your teams can actually run: a strategy that cannot be staffed, funded or operated is not a strategy.

The team that advises can also deliver. The group’s services, methods and quality standards give you one accountable partner from strategy to operations, so a recommendation is never handed to someone else to make work.

What it covers

What a Consulting Engagement Delivers

Six outputs. Each is a document you can act on, with or without us.

Current-state assessment

A clear picture of your systems, data, processes and skills, and of the gaps between them and your goals.

Digital strategy

What technology should achieve for the organisation over the coming years, and what it should stop doing.

Enterprise and solution architecture

How systems, data and integrations fit together, so every new project adds to one design and does not create another island.

Data strategy

Which data matters, who owns it and how it will be governed, managed and used, set out as a plan over several years.

Solution selection

Requirements, evaluation criteria and a comparison of the options, whether that means building, buying or extending what you have.

Roadmap and risk plan

Projects in order of priority, with what each depends on and the risks to manage along the way.

Timing

When to Bring In a Consultant

Advice is worth most before a commitment is made. Four moments when it pays for itself.

Before a large purchase or build

An independent look at requirements and options costs little beside a system that turns out not to fit.

When systems have multiplied

Departments have bought their own tools, data is entered several times and no one sees the whole picture.

When a new rule arrives

A data protection law or a sector standard changes what your systems must do and how you must prove it.

When a project has stalled

A review of scope, architecture and plan shows whether to continue, correct the course or stop.

How we deliver

From Advice to Delivery

Consulting covers the first two of our five delivery steps. The same team can carry on through the other three.

  1. STEP 01

    Discover

We analyse the challenge with your people and assess the systems, data and skills you have.

  2. STEP 02

    Design

We agree the target architecture and the roadmap, and you sign off the recommendation.

  3. STEP 03

    Build

The roadmap is built by your team, your suppliers or ours, in stages that each end in working software.

  4. STEP 04

    Deploy

Each project goes live with a planned migration, cut-over and handover.

  5. STEP 05

    Improve

We review results against the strategy and adjust the roadmap as things change.

Questions & answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What will we receive at the end of a consulting engagement?

Documents you can act on: an assessment of where you stand, a target architecture, and a roadmap that puts projects in order with their dependencies and risks. Each is agreed with you before it is final.

Do you also implement what you recommend?

Yes, if you choose. The same team stays accountable from strategy to operations, covering software development, data and analytics, cloud and integration. The roadmap is also written so that your own team or another supplier can deliver it.

What is a data strategy?

A data strategy is a plan for how an organisation will collect, govern, manage and use its data to reach its goals. It names the data that matters most, who owns it, the capabilities to build and the order in which to build them.

What is enterprise architecture?

Enterprise architecture is a description of how an organisation’s processes, applications, data and infrastructure fit together, today and in the target state. It keeps separate projects moving towards one design.

How is technology consulting different from digital transformation?

Consulting produces the decision and the plan: what to change, in what order and why. Digital transformation is the change itself: services digitised, workflows automated and systems connected. One usually leads to the other.

Which sectors do you advise?

We serve six sectors: government, healthcare, education, finance, energy and utilities, and transport and logistics, in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf states.
